Volunteering

Crossroads Counselling is a small, local charity that could not deliver its service without the generous support of its volunteer counsellors, fundraisers, members and trustees.

... as a counsellor

Crossroads Counselling accepts applications to volunteer from both qualified and trainee counsellors. Applications may be made at any time of year.

We welcome applicants from a variety of counselling modalities, but we do not offer cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) or ‘Christian Counselling’ so are unable to accept applicants from these modalities.

We welcome applicants from any background who are in sympathy with the Christian ethos of Crossroads Counselling.

Trainee counsellors

Crossroads Counselling offers placement opportunities for those who are in at least their second year of counselling/psychotherapy training at an accredited training organisation. No prior experience of client work is needed.

Applying to be a volunteer counsellor

If you would like to apply to be a volunteer counsellor for Crossroads Counselling or want to know more about the application process, please use our Contact page, including in the message the name of your training institution, your modality and when you qualified.

If you are a trainee, in additional to the information about your training institution and modality, please tell us which year of training you are in and whether supervision of client work is provided ‘in-house’ as part of your training programme.

... as a fundraiser

You can support our fundraising efforts by:

  • making a donation (regular or one-off) by visiting the Donate page

  • creating your own fundraising activity, such as a physical challenge or event, to encourage your family and friends to support our work.

No matter how much you raise or donate, every penny makes a difference to the life of someone on a low income in Tower Hamlets who is struggling with their mental or emotional wellbeing.

... as a member

Members of Crossroads Counselling support the charity financially or as volunteers. They are invited to the annual general meeting where they hold the trustees to account for their work and the work of the charity.

If you are interested in becoming a member, use the Contact page to let us know.

... as a trustee

The work of Crossroads Counselling is overseen by volunteer trustees, who are appointed by the members, The trustees are accountable to the members at the annual general meeting for their work and the work of the charity. The trustees meet several times each year.
