Money Matters

Crossroads was set up in 1994 by local churches to make counselling accessible to people on low incomes.

Nationally, mental health problems are increasing rapidly. Tower Hamlets has many of the risk factors for poor mental health. More and more people are coming to us for help. Our reputation as a valuable, professional service, is respected with our service being recommended to most of our clients by GPs or other professionals.

Professional standards require all counsellors to receive ongoing clinical supervision. In addition to our running costs, we provide paid supervision and continued professional development training for all our counsellors as part of our commitment to high standards in professional excellence.

Most of our clients can only afford to pay less than £5 for a session but it costs us a lot more to provide one!

We fund our service through grant income and individual supporters. An amazing one third of our income comes from people who give monthly to our service.

The work we do is only made possible through the generosity of our funders and supporters - see our annual report for more details.
